My research explores innovative ideas and practical applications, aiming to generate new knowledge and meaningful impact.
driven by a passion for ecological innovation, I initiated and led a solo environmental project using lab resources at East China University of Science and Technology. I explored a dual-purpose solution: using non-toxic green algae to remove excess nutrients from eutrophic waters in southern China, then repurposing the algae as organic fertilizer to restore nutrient-poor northern soils. I conducted algae cultivation, nutrient absorption tests, and soil enrichment trials. My efforts demonstrated a scalable method to tackle both water pollution and soil erosion. This experience sharpened my skills in experimental design, data interpretation, and independent problem-solving, while deepening my understanding of ecosystem interdependence.
Founder & Independent Researcher; driven by a passion for sustainable ecology, I initiated a solo project using Scenedesmus quadricauda, a green microalga, to extract residual nutrients from wastewater sludge and convert them into soil amendments. Conducted in lab space borrowed from East China University of Science and Technology, I cultivated algae in nutrient-rich sludge filtrate to recover nitrogen and phosphorus, then applied the biomass to desert soils to test its fertilizing effects. This circular approach targets two key issues: reducing sewage waste and restoring infertile land. I gained hands-on skills in algal cultivation, nutrient recovery, and soil enrichment testing, while deepening my understanding of closed-loop environmental solutions.
